Cooking Up Another Valentine

I’ve been distracted with lots of snow!! But my 8th valentine is made for a child – a chef hat with a Valentine

A Valentine red confetti band adds a splash of color to this chef hat.

red confetti band. Here’s the list: 1. Valentine Mini-Quilt; 2. Wine Bottle Cozy With a Valentine Pocket; 3. Knitted Necklace for a special Valentine; 4. Doll Chef Hat and Apron with Valentine Hearts; and No. 5, Valentine’s Day Trinket Box; No. 6, Fingerless Gloves with a Valentine Pink Stripe; No. 7, Valentine Accordion Book; and No. 8 a Child’s Chef Hat with a Valentine Red Confetti Band.

Valentine in an Accordion Scrapbook

One side of the accordion book boasts bright pink flowers.

The other side of the accordion book boasts a less busy pattern.

The book folds up and looks nice tied with a special ribbon.

One of my favorite things to do is scrapbooking. Instead of buying scrapbooks in the store, I make my own mini ones out of cereal boxes and give them away as gifts. I like to fill them up with photos and little sayings. Sometimes I make them as little thank-yous for a special get-together at someone’s home. I made another for a cousin’s child who became a big sister and filled it with sayings about what it means to be a sister and photos of her and the new baby. They also are great to fill with poetry I’ve written or fill with photos from a day-trip with friends or family. If someone is moving out of the neighborhood, it’s great to fill with photos as a going-away gift. I also like them because they can stand up and look nice on display. For weddings and baby showers, they make great centerpieces displaying the couple’s own baby or childhood photos. They can be used at family and school reunions as centerpieces, too, displaying photos of ancestors or classmates, respectively. For Valentine’s Day, I’ve been working on several to give to my niece and nephews. They are my Valentine No. 7 in the 14-Valentine countdown. 7, Valentine Accordion Book.

Gloves Fit for Valentine

A touch of pink makes these gloves a perfect fit for Valentine's Day.

My mom knits fingerless gloves. This is my valentine idea No. 6. They not only will keep you warm, they also will leave your fingers handy for driving a car, texting outdoors, or even collecting sea shells. Her newest pair is white with a pink stripe. One size fits most. I’d say, one size fits most valentines!_ The countdown to 14 valentine ideas continues: 1. Valentine Mini-Quilt; 2. Wine Bottle Cozy With a Valentine Pocket; 3. Knitted Necklace for a special Valentine; 4. Doll Chef Hat and Apron with Valentine Hearts; and No. 5, Valentine’s Day Trinket Box; and No. 6, Fingerless Gloves with a Valentine Pink Stripe.

Seashell Collection Box

During the summers, I take a walk first thing each morning and collect shells by the ocean. I glued some of my treasured finds on this hand-painted wooden trinket box. The box is purple on the outside, pink on the inside and orange on the bottom. Gold glitter paint adds sparkle to the gift, which

would make a great valentine. So my 14-valentine countdown continues: 1. Valentine Mini-Quilt; 2. Wine Bottle Cozy With a Valentine Pocket; 3. Knitted Necklace for a special Valentine; 4. Doll Chef Hat and Apron with Valentine Hearts; and No. 5, Valentine’s Day Trinket Box.

Pocket for Valentine

My newest valentine idea is a wine bottle cozy with a pocket on the front. The pocket, which is decorated with a pretty heart, makes a great place to put a special card, small piece of candy or tiny gift, such as jewelry. The wine cover’s non-traditional purple and green colors allow the recipient to display the gift long after Feb. 14 passes.

I hope to come up with 14 valentine ideas this year. So far, I’ve got: 1. Valentine Mini-Quilt; and 2. Valentine Wine Bottle Cozy With a Pocket. Let’s see what I can make this weekend.

A pocket on this wine bottle cozy creates space for an additional card or small gift to go with the wine.

Good Morning Valentines

Last year I was the first to wish Happy Valentine's Day to my children with mini-quilts set next to their breakfast plates.
